My Handbag Essentials

Now that both my children are in school I have high hopes of ditching my mumsy bags for something smaller, chic and lighter. I now dream of sashaying away with a delicate clutch or tiny tote. In reality I don’t know how well this will work because I still have a pile of things I consider my handbag essentials and take them wherever I go.

So what is in my must have handbag list?

In order of priority into my bag would go:

  • My wallet, rammed full of far too much change and old receipts. It’s very old now and looks tatty with the stickers youngest kindly decorated them with, but it is roomy and means I can delay sorting those receipts out.
  • Then I always have my phone. Loving my new one especially as I’ve treated myself to a new case from my designs on redbubble. I bought a extra tough one as I cracked my last phone about halfway through my contract and I hated it for a year.
  • A hair clip or a bunch of hair ties. Long hair needs to be tamed.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Lip balm
  • A pen.
  • A new addition but I do love it is my aromatherapy de-stress balm. Prefect to unwind and I use it as an alternative to perfume.

In reality though. Despite ditching the pram bags a long time a go. I am still lugging around my kids junk. So my bag often more closely resembles this. All my essentials with the addition of snacks, drinks, toys and tissues.

  1. I admire your thoughts about a more sensible sized bag, somehow never worked for me when my two started school! Love the wallet, very stylish. My handbag essentials are purse and cards, phone, comb, tissues and sunglasses in the summer.

I’m slowly getting the children stuff removed from my bag. It might have all gone by the time they’re teenagers!

  2. I purposefully have a small handbag so I can’t chuck loads of junk in it but then this usually means I end up taking a back pack as well so I can’t wain really!

  3. My essential would be my phone. I have exactly the same problem! I’m currently shopping around for a better bag solution, but I now realise how much a more practical purse would help! Mine holds a couple of cards, some cash and that’s about it..

  4. My kids wear hearings so I never go anywhere without spare batteries otherwise they stop working at the most inconvenient times!
