Tutorial Tuesday # 3 – how to do back stitch

For Tutorial Tuesday # 3 I thought I’d continue with showing how to do basic stitches and one that I couldn’t do without is backstitch. It gives a continuous clean line and is great for outlining things in embroidery and cross stitch. It is also a very secure stitch to use. 
Tutorial Tuesday – how to do back stitch 
First secure your thread at the back of your fabric and come up at point A. 
Then move your needle a short distance (in this case two squares of Aida) and go down at point B
Tutorial Tuesday – how to do back stitch 
At the back of the fabric move your needle a short distance (in this case two squares of Aida) and come up at point C

Tutorial Tuesday – how to do back stitch 
Then return your needle to point B and go down. Thus giving a continuous line.

Continue for as long as required. The finished result should look like this.
