DIY book paper heart garland
This has got to be one of my favourite recycling projects and the perfect way to decorate for Valentines day. You only need four things to make this easy diy book paper heart garland. Once you start it will be hard to stop!

To make the DIY book paper heart garland you will need:
- An old book heading for landfil
- Red yarn
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
Instructions
- First pull out the pages of your old book. Using scissors or a die cutting machine or digiatl cutting machine cut out your hearts. For added visual interest cut out a variety of sizes. You can download bonus templates if you need them at the bottom of this post.
- Once you have a collection of hearts (you will need around 30 for a 2m meter garland) you can start to assemble.
- Make a hanging loop at one end of you ball of red yarn by looping it over you hand and securing with a knot.
- Place this at the back of your machine with the ball of yarn infront so it feeds through.
- Set your machine to a wide zig zag stitch with a longer stitch length.
- Place you first heart on the yarn and put the foot down to secure. Put the needle in before stitching.
- Stitch slowly to allow you to continue adding hearts at even spaces as you sew.
- Once you have added all you hearts, cut the yarn leaving enough to make a hanging loop at the end.
- Now you are ready to display your new heart garland and given a new life to an old book.
