5 things you should always check on your car
Winter takes it’s toll on your car. The cold weather, freezing rain and bad condition of the roads, can mean that your car takes a battering. It’s worth always giving your cat a once over before you drive anywhere. Especially if you are planning a long journey. Even if you think you have a reliable car like a Volkswagen these are 5 things you should always check on your car.

1 Tyres
You should check the tread depth and if they are wearing evenly. If they aren’t it could be a problem with your tracking. This often gets knocked out of place when hitting potholes. If the condition is good, make sure you check your tyre pressures. You should read the car manual to see what they should be set at.
2 Oil
Oil is the life blood of your cars engine and without it your car could seize up and stop working. Make sure you check it regularly and top it up when needed. Also check the colour and consistency of it. If it’s cloudy, take it to the garage to get it checked as water may have got in.
3 Lights
Clean your lights front and back so that they can be well illuminated at night. Check your bulbs and replace quickly any that are out. You can find all sorts of car parts and accessories here www.buycarparts.co.uk
4 Anti freeze
The cold temperatures in winter can freeze the water in your car. Make sure you add anti freeze to your washer bottle to avoid it cracking.
5 Brakes
Your brakes will save your life. Make sure they are working properly, replace any worn pad and discs. Make sure your handbrake cable is also up to the job. You don’t want it to fail if you are parked on a hill or trying to do a hill start at a junction.
