Best self tan – 5 products to give you a golden glow
I am not ashamed to say that I love a bit of self tan in the summer. I basically can rock tow skin tones, through the year. Place Irish rose in the winter thanks to my dad and Olive skinned in the summer thanks to my mum.
However as much as I love laying in the sun, I am painfully aware of the damage it’ll do to my skin. So that’s not how I get my golden glow. Check out my five favourite self tan products of this year and why each one is perfect for different occasions.

You can also check out my top tips at the bottom of this post, for avoiding patchy knees and muddy elbows!
Tanning water
Tanning water is not a product I had used before this year. If I’m perfectly honest the first thing that drew me to it, was the swirling shimmer.
It’s the ideal product if you want a light golden glow and I would apply this before heading out for the evening. When you just want a subtle sun kissed shimmer.
Ideal for those top up days between a darker tan.
Grab this Nudity – glow gradual tanning water from Rose & Caramel £24.99

Gradual tan
Gradual tan is perfect for someone who is new to tanning or who wants to fool everyone into thinking they’ve just been out in the garden working on their tan over a few days.
I love this Palmer’s Natural bronze body lotion gradual tan £6.49, it smells good and provide great moisturization. Plus you can slather it on in a hurry before leading out the door.

Self tan mousse
Do not be frightened when you see this come out of the can. It is coloured so you can see where your applying. It looks way darker than it’ll be once you’ve buffed it in.
I really like it having a colour to the mousse as I can clearly see where I’ve applied it and where I’ve missed a spot.
It’s not sticky or smelly whilst it develops and when it washes off it reveals an authentic looking golden glow.
Intensity – Bold Bronzed Tanning Mousse from Rose & Caramel £22.99, has to be my new go to this year.

Self tanning lotion
If you prefer a lotion, then this self tanning lotion from Lavera £16.95, is the one for you. No matter how hastily I may have applied this, I always get a great even looking, natural tan. My skin feels hydrated and soft all day long.

Tan spray
Tan is spray format can be a little tricky to apply, so I’d probably recommend this for seasoned self tanners.
The benefits of this Nudity – Clear Golden Tanning Aerosol £22.99is that you can build up your colour by layering the tan. If you are really good with it you can even have a go at contouring.
My abs could definitely do with some this year!
It goes on lightly and with a quick buff you’ll have an even tan. This gave me a lovely subtle colour perfect for the start of summer.

Don’t forget to Pin it for later!
