Jennie Maizels Sketchbook club review
I can’t remember the last time I sat down and spent time working on my sketchbook. So I was delighted to be able to review Jennie Maizels Sketchbook club.
What is Skeckbook club?
Sketchbook club is an online learning resource created by the talented illustrator Jennie Maizels. It allows you to create beautiful artwork based on Jennies designs through supportive online resources.

How does it work?
First simple visit www.jenniemaizels.com/sketchbook-club/ then simply choose the courses you’d like to take part in. There’s no subscription and you simply pay for each course individually. Each course costs £4.00
Once you’ve purchased your modules you’ll be sent an email with how to access the course materials.
I got the Spring, Cactus and Nature Table courses and I’ve completed two so far.
What’s included
You’ll get access to:
- Instructional video
- Printable instructions
- Printable reference materials
- A supportive community

Recommended age / ability
If you’re keen to work on your art work, then I don’t see that there should be restrictions on age or ability with these courses. The videos and resources are really helpful and supportive and I could see children as well as adults use them to produce their own unique art work.
If you’ve never even had a go before, as long as you can trace and are keen to get stuck in, any ability would enjoy this. It’s not really about the final piece, although they are so joyful. For me, it was about the time to sit and relax and take pleasure from creativity.
What about materials?
You can purchase the sketchbook club starter kit from Jennie Maizels art shop for £39.99 if you don’t have any art materials at home. I used the kit for my projects and they are all really good quality.
I just supplemented the kit with a few pencil crayons from the kids craft box to finish my sketches.
The kit includes everything you need to get started and is a 10% saving on buying the items individually from the shop.
You get:
- Two Sketchbooks
- Gouache paint set
- Acrylic paint set
- Watercolour set
- Paintbrush duo
- Fine liner
- 3 Pencils
- Rubber
- Pencil sharpener

You don’t have to purchase them to do the courses, if you already have art supplies you just need to check on the course requirements which you will need.
Final thoughts

I really loved dipping my toe back into painting and illustrating. Sketchbook club gave me the chance to take time to sit and focus on something relaxing and creative. Producing beautiful art work was a bonus as I feel so good having carved out that time for myself.
I would thoroughly recommend Jennie’s courses for anyone keen to start their own sketchbook.
