DIY candy cane mice (free template!)

‘Tis the season to get crafty and spread some festive cheer! What better way to do that than by creating your own adorable DIY candy cane mice? This simple project is not only a delightful holiday table decoration that is also sweet treat for friends and family. Download the free template to make the process even easier.

Materials Needed:

1. Candy canes
2. Felt fabric in pastel colours
3. Fabric pens
4. Fabric glue
5. Scissors (or a cricut or laser cutter)
6. Template (download for free at the bottom of this post)

Instructions:

Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Ensure you have all the necessary materials listed above. Download and print the free template to guide you through the process.

Step 2: Cut the Felt
Using the template, cut out the required shapes from the felt fabric. You’ll need one mouse-shape, one large ears and two small inner ear shapes for each candy cane mouse. I like to mix and match the colours of felt.

Step 3: Assemble the Mice

Take the large ears shape and slide it through the two slots at the front of the mouse.

Glue the inner ear parts to the larger ears.

Take a candy cane and slide it through the two rear slots and tuck it into the underside of the ears. Position it so it is secure and has the curved part forming the tail.

Step 4: Add Details
Use fabric pens to add to dots for the eyes and a little nose.

You could use googly eyes and a small pom pom for eyes and a nose instead.

Step 5: Let it Dry
Allow your candy cane mice to dry completely before handling them. This ensures that all the glued elements are securely attached.

Step 6: Optional – Personalize Your Mice
Get creative and personalise your candy cane mice! You could add little accessories, such as a bow or stitch some tiny whiskers, to give each mouse its own unique character.

Step 7: Display and Share
Once your candy cane mice are dry and personalised, add them to your table as decorations or pop them into to stockings for a cute sweet treat!
