Thoughtful gifts for new babies and parents
We had a lull of new babies for a while, but now friends and family members are expecting and it’s exiting to meet the new arrivals.
It can be overwhelming when you go gift shopping to purchase the perfect gift for the new baby and it’s parents. Before you get swamped with oversized cuddly toys and noisy toys.
Take a look through my list of thoughtful gifts for new babies and parents. They will thank you for it.
A newspaper
This may seem like an odd idea. But parents will enjoy having a keepsake that they can share with their child when they are older. Plus with all the drama on their birthday, it’s something their parents will probably not thought of.
Baby tableware
Another great idea to surprise parents and gift an item that will be extremely necessary for the long run is baby tableware. Today there are many options to choose from when it comes to kids’ plates and cups, so try to be specific in your choice. Opt for products that are organic and do not contain toxic ingredients that might harm the child. Bamboo plates and bowls can be an option when you have chosen to go with silicon-free gifts. Adding some cuteness to the bundle will bring joy to new parents or parents to be and will have a positive impact on the overall baby feeding process.
Muslin squares
My rainbow muslin squares £6.95 were a total lifesaver when my boys were little. Perfect for cover ups when feeding, burp cloths, cleaning up spills, entertaining with peek a boo and a make shift change mat.
A decent pram bag
Just because you become a parent doesn’t mean you suddenly loose all sense of style. No parent really wants to be adorned in the current child’s cartoon fave. So why not get them a Quilted Design Baby Changing Bag £34.99 they wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen carrying.
Baby milestone cards
These seem to be everywhere at the moment. If you fancy getting a more tongue in cheek gift, how about these Alternative Baby Journey Cards.
A hamper
Everyone loves a hamper and they make people feel really spoilt. The Baby Hamper Company have a great selection to choose from, and at a range of great price brackets. So there is something to suit everyone’s tastes and pocket. Like this ‘Not Your Standard’ baby hamper which has beautiful, cool and bold items that make a fantastic new baby gift. Just the kind of thing I would pick, as I don’t like to go with gender colours of blue and pink. The box contains a soft, bright, sensory toy. A Baby bunting red and white stripe romper suit and matching hat. I can imagine any parent would be happy to get this for their new born.

If you like the looks of this hamper, take a look at the beauty I’ve got for you to win in my giveaway below.
Food
If anyone came round to my house with food when I first had my boys. Whether it was a basket of goodies or some meals for the freezer I think I would have cried with joy.
A subscription
Feeds and a newborns company can be a bit boring if I’m honest. Why not get the new parents a subscription to a streaming service like Amazon Prime Video
Or a magazine subscription. So they can enjoy 15 minutes with a cuppa once a month.

As parents receive Baby Box (Scotland and some other countries) they can often be provided with a good selection of baby essentials. Though these are gender neutral. May be that parents welcome something which has been personalised for baby. Maybe something for the nursery, possibly toy, or bookends with child’s name.
Something for the mother as well as the baby, so she doesn’t get ignored in everyone’s adoration of her newborn! Mothers need to feel they’re noticed as well, as more than just ‘mum’ – perhaps a necklace with the baby’s name on it, or a keepsake of some kind to commemorate the birth xx
Baby bath essentials like shampoo, lotion ect is a must have for newborns.

Other than some sleep and a cuppa thats still warm! Muslins and nappies were the most useful gifts i got for mine, not very ‘gift’ like on their own mind, but make them into a cute little hamper with some creams, little teddy, a blanket ect and they are perfect!
