7 Eco friendly kitchen ideas

In recent months I have been much more focused on how as a household we can be more environmentally friendly.

Whether that is looking at our single use plastics, buying sustainably, composting more or reusing and repurposing things I already have in the house. For the most part the kitchen, naturally has been my biggest focus.

But my making simple changes we are making an impact on the amount of things going in the bin or heading for recycling. To get started in your house, check out my 7 eco friendly kitchen ideas.

Ditch single use plastics

It pains me to use cling film to cover left overs in the kitchen. To be used just for a couple of hours and then cucked in the bin! Which is why we’re switching to food hoods.

Personally I wish all shops would get rid of single use shopping bags. I still have a draw full at home and I’m sure every one else does too. If they were completely removed it would make everyone have to remember their shopping bags.

Use less chemicals

Plastic has it’s place in my house and I don’t mind using it when it helps me reduce other damaging aspects in the kitchen. One thing I have been concerned with is the amount of harsh chemicals being used all the time and constantly going down the drain into our water system.
