8 Crafty ways to use free fonts
I love this time of year and I always get the urge to do more crafting. This year I just can’t escape the fact that typography is everywhere in all the craft ideas and inspiration I’ve been looking at. Now you could if you are super creative design your own fonts and go to town with type face.
I have tried this in the past and although my brush script is coming along I always find I do one dodgy letter. The other alternative is to download your fonts to get your started on your crafty way. Don’t panic about shelling out as I have come up with 8 Crafty ways to use free fonts.

The first thing you’ll need to do for any of the suggested projects listed here is head to Font bundles for a free font download. There are plenty to choose from and I’m sure you’ll find something to suit your personal needs and tastes.
Make stencils

Pick the font you want and print out on to card stock or paper and then glue to card stock. Cut out the design and then use spray paint or dry brush paint technique to apply your stencil to all manner of items. Like this beautiful crate for the garden.
Card making

I love card making but sometime my hand lettering lets me down. You’ll be amazed how many different types of envelopes and paper types can be run through the printer.
Using a circut machine

If you are lucky enough to own a circut machine, you can use it to cut all sorts of things. From card stock to vinyl stickers to create your own t-shirt designs.
Make your own printables
If like me you write your own blog. You’ll know that printables are a great way to get people to subscribe and keep coming back to your blog. I love to design and offer all sorts of printables. Such as gift tags, shopping list templates, packing lists, calendars, planner pages. You can spruce up the look of these and make them special to your site by adding interesting fonts to headers and key terms.

Print your own stationery
Make your own letter heads, customise your envelopes. Or design your own range of Christmas stationery.

Print your own clear labels using a lazer printer
If you have a lazer printer you could print your own sticky label sheets for jam jars, customise glasses or to decorate a window.
Print your own signs
Have an event you need signs for? Why not pick a fab font to style them up. Perfect for parties, weddings and other great get togethers. Let all your guests know where the part is at with a sign.

Make your own transfers using wax paper.
If you print your designs onto was paper. You can transfer them to wood or painted surfaces by placing them on the surface and rubbing till transferred. Just remember to need to print the text in reverse as it’ll come out the opposite way round when transferred.
