Festive stocking exclusive cross stitch pattern *updated

This year, why not add a personal touch to your festivities with a delightful cross stitch pattern for a festive stocking? I’m excited to share this free cross stitch pattern that will add a unique flair to your holiday décor. *now updated, so you can choose charts with or without backstitch.

Cross Stitch Pattern dimensions:

  • 54 x 62 stitches
  • 3.86 x 4.43 inches

Materials Needed:

  1. Aida cloth (14-count is recommended)
  2. Embroidery hoop
  3. DMC Embroidery floss
  4. Size 24 embroidery needle
  5. Scissors
  6. Optional: Backing fabric for the stocking, Ribbon for hanging

Instructions:

  1. Start by securing your Aida cloth in the embroidery hoop, ensuring it’s taut.
  2. Thread your needle with the first colour of embroidery floss, following the provided pattern.
  3. Begin stitching according to the pattern, using the cross stitch technique.
  4. Continue stitching, changing colours as needed, until the entire pattern is complete.
  5. Once the stitching is finished, carefully remove the cloth from the hoop and trim any excess fabric.

Optional finishing touches:

To turn it into a hanging decoration

  1. Cut out the stocking shape from your cross-stitched fabric, leaving a small border for sewing.
  2. Place the cross-stitched front and the backing fabric together, right sides facing each other.
  3. Sew around the edges, leaving the top open to turn it out.
  4. Turn the stocking right side out.
  5. Add a ribbon loop for hanging and hand stitch the top shut.
