Materials Needed:
- Cross stitch fabric (14-count Aida recommended)
- Embroidery hoop
- DMC Embroidery floss in various colours
- Size 24 Cross stitch needle
- Embroidery Scissors
- Cat in a Cup Cross Stitch Pattern (download it at the bottom of the post)
Instructions:
- Start by downloading and printing the free Cat in a Cup Cross Stitch Pattern.
- Place your cross stitch fabric in the embroidery hoop, ensuring it is taut but not overstretched.
- Referencing the printed pattern, locate the centre of your fabric and your pattern, indicated by the black arrows. Begin stitching from there.
- Use a single strand of embroidery floss, doubled so as to secure using the loop method. Follow the pattern’s colour guide to fill in each section, creating the adorable cat and cup design.
- As you work through the pattern, pay attention to the direction of your top and bottom arm stitches to ensure a neat and uniform finish.
- Once you’ve completed all the stitches, carefully remove your fabric from the hoop and trim any excess threads.
- Optionally, you can frame your finished cross stitch piece or incorporate it into a larger project like a pillow cover or wall hanging.

- Experiment with different shades of embroidery floss to customize your cat’s coloring.
- Have fun and embrace the creative process!
