Cutebee DIY bookends review: Building the ‘Farewell to the Night’ kit

If you’ve been admiring the book nooks that seem to be everywhere recently, but don’t feel brave enough to tackle one just yet. Why not try a bookends kit? I’ve been lucky enough to be sent the farewell to the night cutebee diy bookends kit to review. So see how I got got on building it and read my honest review below!

Unboxing the Kit

It’s a very neatly packed kit and would make a goo letter box gift to send to someone. Inside are all the pieces you need to make the book ends formed into sheets that you push out, along with a few stickers for wrapping books and the instruction manual. You will need glue as that is not included in the kit.

Assembling the Kit

The assembly process was fairly straightforward, thanks to the snap structure most of it goes together without glue. You only need to glue a few smaller parts. I would rate the difficulty as moderate, it’s quicker and easier to assemble than a book nook, it took me around 3 hours to complete, mainly because I take a lot of tea breaks. The instructions are picture base but some pictures were a little tricky to see exactly what goes where. Luckily because its mostly snap together, to can see the placement holes and work it out. I recommend setting aside a quiet afternoon for this build to really enjoy the process.

Design and Detailing

Every aspect, from the boarded-up windows to the broken bottles in the alley, tells a story. It was like building a mini movie set, not my first choice of style but I enjoy the little details, like the gun in the desk drawer.

Displaying the Finished Bookend

Once completed, this bookend not only serves its purpose of holding up books but also becomes a centrepiece for any bookshelf.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

• snap structure, reducing glue usage
• Interactive details, moving doors, etc.

Cons:

• Some assembly steps require patience, especially for beginners
• Instructions could be more detailed in certain sections
