DIY summer wreath kit review

Over the half term I was sent the Mary Elizabeth Flowers’ DIY Summer Wreath Kit to make and review.

Read my honest thoughts on the kit and see how I got on creating a floral display using dried flowers.

Who are Mary Elizabeth Flowers and why should you consider buying a Summer Wreath Kit?

Mary Elizabeth Flowers founded by Mary a florist specialising in dried flower arrangements. Offering wedding accessories, wreaths, crowns buttonholes and kits.

In her own words this is why you should consider buying the kit:

A DIY wreath kit with all the materials and guidance you need to make your own indoor dried flower wreath.

A grapevine wreath forms the base, to be decorated with a mix of summery dried flowers, grasses and foliage and finished with a wired, velvet ribbon.

The only things you’ll need are a pair of scissors, a cup of tea and a summer playlist!

Ideal as a gift for a crafty friend or as a home project to add some hand-crafted rustic décor to your own house.

Unboxing & setup of the Wreath Kit from Mary Elizabeth Flowers

The first thing I noticed when the box arrived was that I could smell the flowers from inside. I was not expecting that considering they were dried.

The contents of the kit was beautifully packaged and I would be delighted if I was receiving this as a crafty present.

Setting up for the project was easy, due to the very clear instructions and beautiful photographs.

All I needed was a space to spread out, a cup of tea and a pair of sharp scissors.

Contents of the Kit

This wreath kit includes:

  • 30cm Grape vine wreath base
  • Selection of dried flowers
  • Selection of dried foliage
  • Paper-covered binding wire
  • Velvet ribbon to make the bow
  • guidance sheet with step-by-step instructions with beautiful photographs.

Makes finished wreath approx. 40cm diameter.

Final thoughts on the kit

I loved making this wreath and it’s now hanging proudly in my dining room. It has been admired by everyone who has visited and I have had to point out to them that I made it! As it came out so good!

The only thing I struggled with was the bow but after a little tweaking I got the shape I was happy with. I got it in mustard yellow but you do have the option of French blue as well.

I would recommend that you have some really sharp scissors as some of the stalks are quite tough. If you’ve got delicate fingers some of the dried foliage can be a little prickly too.

Priced at £38.00 I think it’s great value for money for these reasons.

  • I had a really enjoyable afternoon making it
  • It will last as it’s made of dried flowers
  • The price is very similar to what you’d pay for a fresh flower wreath, which will die!
  • The pride I have in my finished project
