Five craft trends to look out for (summer 2025)

Summer is a great time to start a new craft, the light is good and you’ll find you have more time in the evenings to indulge in some self care crafting. There’s a whole wave of new trends coming our way. I’ve put together the top five craft trends for summer 2025 which you can try out yourself.

New craft trends summer 2025

  • Crochet
  • Terrazzo
  • Custom jewellery
  • Scrapbooking
  • Macramé

They are all beginner friendly, meaning there are plenty of tutorials out there showing you the basics of each upcoming trend.

Crochet

A huge trend this year that has taken over both home and fashion is crochet. The fashion industry has been taken over with crochet, from crop tops to beach bags, the trend is coming for summer and is here to stay for the upcoming months.

Crochet has become the new “it” staple to have, coming in a variety of patterns and colours, they’re perfect for transitional pieces.

If you’re a dab hand with crocheting, why not try the trend yourself and make a crochet piece of clothing such as a hat, top or even beach trousers!

Not only will it be cheaper to make something yourself, but you’ll be helping the planet by avoiding fast fashion corporations.

Terrazzo

Terrazzo is one of those mid-century trends which never goes out of style, but usually crops back up each summer because of the European holiday we all dream of.

Originating in Italy, Terrazzo involves reusing marble and title cut-offs mixed in with cement to create a wide variety of products such as wall tiles, coasters, jewellery trays and even pots.

This trend can be relatively cheap, especially if you already have old tiles laying around. All you’ll need to do is buy a mould and some white cement.

Simply mix the tiles in with the cement and pour into your chosen mould. Once dried, you can sand and clean your piece for the beautiful Terrazzo design to come through.

Custom jewellery

Another huge DIY fashion trend is custom jewellery. Much like making jewellery as a child, the modern custom kits usually contain wire and beads.

Which you can use to create necklaces, rings and bracelets. You can customise the look in whichever way you want, adding beads, pearls, gem stones and much more.

The trend is a great way to add a bit of extra personality into your outfits. You can even buy accessory packs online to match your specific style.

Scrapbooking

Another trend which has probably resurfaced memories from everyone’s childhood is scrapbooking. It’s become a trend, particularly across Tiktok, to show how you scrapbook.

What you include to make it aesthetically pleasing. With the summer coming up, why not collect things from your days out or holidays as a small piece of memorabilia.

Many people have started to use disposable cameras too, using their disposables in their scrapbook to bulk up their book.

However, buying and printing disposable cameras can be expensive. So you could include things you’ve collected from your day out such as tickets, stickers and much more.

Macramé

The Macramé trend is again one of those which does stick around but has peaks of increased popularity. With decor styles generally moving away from greys and silvers, natural tones and natural decorative pieces are back in.

It’s believed Macramé originated with Arabic weavers who would create pieces of clothing, but the technique of weaving soon found its way into home decor.

If you want to make your own hanging Macramé piece all you need is a Macramé cord, a wooden dowel rod and some scissors.

There are countless tutorials online for a variety of different designs, however you may need a few practice sessions before you fully master the technique.

With a change in trends each year it can be overwhelming what to choose. However, don’t let that stop you from participating with the trend or re-wearing/ using it.

If you love creating any of the trends mentioned, why not consider hosting your own craft workshop. You’ll be able to share your new skillset, as well as encouraging others to make craft pieces they’ll love all year round.
