- Unpack Your Kit: You will need the printed pattern, double sided sticky sheets, diamond dots in the colours listed on the pattern, a tray, a pen-like tool, and wax.
- Prepare Your Workspace: Find a flat, clean surface where you can work comfortably. Good lighting is essential.
- Understand the Canvas: The canvas is printed with tiny circles that each correspond to a diamond colour. The colour code is printed on the side of the pattern.
- Prep the pattern: cover the area you will be sticking the diamonds to with the double sided sticky sheet. Leave the top sheet on till you are ready to work, and only lift the area you are working on. This protects the sticky from picking up things it shouldn’t
- Start Applying the Diamonds: Dip the pen tool into the wax, pick up a diamond by pressing the tool to the diamond’s rounded side, then press the diamond onto its corresponding square on the canvas.
- Work One Colour at a Time: It’s easier to work with one colour at a time. Apply all the diamonds of one colour that are in the section you’re working on, then move on to the next colour.
- Cover Your Work: If you’re not finishing your painting in one sitting, cover it with the protective film it came with to keep it clean and prevent the adhesive from drying out.
- Optional – Seal Your Painting: Once you’ve applied all the diamonds, you can seal your painting to protect it. Use a sealant that’s suitable for diamond painting, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
