Unboxing M1 xTool
I was lucky enough this week to be sent the latest laser cutter from xTool. I am so excited to be sharing with you the unboxing M1 xTool.

This item was gifted to me for review purposes but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The first thing I noticed when it arrived on my doorstep was how heavy it was! I could hardly push it in through my front door. So I had to wait till other people were home to carry it up to my studio.

Unboxing M1 xTool
Once we were in the right place I got it out of the massive brown box and encountered an equally large white box.
I was struck with how sleek the design looked on the outside of the box.
It clearly shows the fact that this laser cutter is different from others currently on the market, as it also has blade cutting capabilities. A kind of hybrid Glowforge and Cricut possibly?
The inside flap shows a variety of project ideas, some I’ve already tried and some which were new to me. I would never have considered laser engraving on a macaroon, for example.
The machine and it’s accessories were very well packaged and nothing had been dislodged in transit.
Inside the box
- M1 machine
- The extraction hose
- A set of prisms
- Four cutting mats, two blue light grip and two pink fabric grip
- Two boxes containing the rotary accessories
- A large sample materials box

The machine itself was light enough for me to lit out of the box and place on my desk. It’s worth baring in mind that you’ll need it to be near a window for ventilation. It has a simple design and comes in white which suits my studio.
The extraction hose was easy to fit, but you may want to get a longer one if you planning on having it further away than directly underneath your window
The prisms are triangle pieces that help lift your base material off the bottom of the laser cutter floor, allowing air movement and in turn less scorch marks. It will be interesting to see how this works in practice.

The cutting mats are very similar to my Cricut ones, with one slight difference, they are sticky on the underneath as well, so they attach to the floor of the machine.
The rotary accessories allow you to cut round cylindrical objects such as tumblers. This will be a new project for me and I’m excited to test it out.
