Download these free printable lacing cards at the bottom of this post. The free templates are available in both SVG and PDF formats that you can use to create your sewing cards.
What's included
The sewing cards come in 5 different shapes with different arrangements of holes.
- Rainbow
- Star
- Square
- Rectangle
- Hexagon
How to use
Use them to practice, running stitch, back stitch, cross stitch and many more great hand embroidery stitches. I love these lacing cards as a great teaching tool as well. Because they are in a larger format it's easier for pupils to follow exactly where the thread is going for each stitch.
The rainbow design we stitched using a back stitch and left the threads long at the ends. You can simply unthread to practice again or add a hanging loop to the centre hole and turn into a decoration.
Use yarn, string or even ribbon to stitch the cards with. All you need is a blunt ended a plastic needle with a large eye to make easy threading.
I love the way you can see the overlap with sheer ribbon which makes showing how to do cross stitch easier on the square template.
You can use the svg in your Cricut or laser cutter to cut out the designs. Alternatively download the printable pdf and cut out the shapes with scissors and use a single hole punch to add the holes.
