How to Create Your Own Watermelon Slice Diamond Painting: A Step-by-Step Guide
I’ve recently got caught by the sparkle of these tiny resin “diamonds”. What if I told you that you can create your own diamond art masterpiece without relying on a kit? Yes, it’s entirely possible! I’ll guide you through the process of making your very own watermelon slice diamond painting using my printable pattern.

Step 1: Download Your Design

Step 2: Prepare Your Design
Once you’ve downloaded the pattern, you’ll need to print it on A4 paper. Do not resize it or select fit to paper as it’s size correctly for the standard round diamonds.
Step 3: Gather Your Materials
- Double-sided sticky sheets: These will serve as the canvas for your watermelon slice.
- Diamond drills: These coloured resin diamonds are the stars of the show.
- Diamond applicator tool: A pen for picking up and placing the diamonds.
- Tray: Keep your diamonds organized.
- Wax: Apply a bit to the tip of your applicator tool for better grip.
- Printout of your design: Make sure it’s the same size as your diamond drills (mine are sized for 2.8mm drills).
Step 4: Let’s Craft!
- Cover the Design: Lay the double-sided sticky sheet over your watermelon slice design. Peel it back to reveal the area you want to work on.
- Wax On: Apply a small amount of wax to the tip of your applicator tool.
- Pick Up a Diamond Drill: Match the color-coded diamond to the corresponding section on the canvas. Gently press it onto the adhesive.
- Repeat and Shine: Keep placing the diamonds until your watermelon slice comes to life. Work in small sections to avoid smudging or misplacing diamonds.
- Finishing Touches: Once your canvas is complete, press down gently on the diamonds to secure them.
- You can then choose to trim down the design as I have or fill in the background with more diamonds.
