Kitten crew review

You know I love crafts and I love to share them with my kids. Especially my youngest who loves cats, so he was delighted when this kitten crew kit came from Fiesta crafts for us to review.

What’s inside

Inside the kit which comes in the cutest mini suitcase decorated with buttons. You get all the materials you’ll need to make three kitty’s for the kitten crew.

Included:

  • Three pre-cut felt bodies
  • Three pre-cut felt heads
  • Black embroidery thread
  • Black and white sewing thread
  • Pins and hand sewing needles
  • Green, pink and cream felt
  • Toy stuffing
  • Instruction sheet

Who is it suitable for?

The box says aged 8+ beginner friendly. Which I would say is appropriate, those who haven’t’ ever threaded a needle or done basic hand stitches would need assistance. It’s a great project to do together with younger ones or gift to a older more confident sewer.

How we got on

First of all we laid out each of the kitten crew and cut and arranged the nose and eyes for them all. Then we decided to make the brown one first as that one was closest in colour to our own cat. It took us two evenings to make the kitten, with me doing some of the sewing when he got frustrated with the thread tangling.

He’s every pleased with the first kitten and we cant wait to make the other two. Just a few different whisker stitches or nose shape and they can have a completely different personality.

Value for money

The kit is priced at £19.99 which I think is a good value gift for a child who loves sewing or kittens. Plus once you’ve made them all they have the perfect home to sleep in with the cute mini suitcase.

Kitten crew review final verdict

We really enjoyed making this craft together, but bare in mind the sewing can be frustrating with younger crafters, so be prepared to help out with some of it.
