Kids love to get creative, but thinking up different crafts to keep them interested is no easy task. If your little ones are tired of colouring books and scribbling on sheets of paper, it’s time to get your thinking cap on. Spruce up their bedroom

From mobiles to paper chains and glow-in-the-dark stars, there’s a whole host of crafts that can be done to reimagine your child’s bedroom. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could give your child’s bed a makeover. Sewing

Depending on your child’s age, you could start them off with a simple sewing project. For younger kids, start with large plastic needles that they can thread through holes to create simple pictures, while older children can get started on creating a cushion or bear made from felt. You can also find plenty of cross-stitch and embroidery patterns for little ones too.

Buildings

If your child loves building blocks, then they might like to create a 3D house or castle from things you can find around the house. Collect things like toilet roll tubes, yoghurt pots and egg cartons to create your very own little wonderland. All you’ll need is some glue to put it all together and some paint to finish it off. These crafts are especially good because you’ll be reducing your household waste and give your child something to do even after you’ve finished building it. You’re sure to see your child playing with their dolls in this new make-shift house for days after.

Get closer to nature

There are so many crafts you can do with things you find in the great outdoors that it’s too good an opportunity to miss. It doesn’t matter what season it is, you can always find leaves and plants to get creative with. In the autumn, try pressing autumn leaves or making models out of conkers. You could even create pictures using seasonal vegetables by cutting them into different shapes and dipping them into paint. Summer brings with it lots of colourful blooms, so take some flowers home with you and encourage your kids to explore the different shapes.

Magic sand

If you’re looking for a different medium you might not have used before, magic sand allows kids to get creative over and over again. The sand can be shaped into different moulds or you can use it to build your own structures. It can be a bit messy, but it’s easier to play with than regular sand and makes a nice change from modelling clay.
