Cosy Owl wax melt making kit review
I love trying out new crafts and getting to review them here at craftwithcartwright is such fun. This week I had the chance to test the Cosy Owl wax melt making kit for my latest review.

What are wax melts?
Wax melts are wick-less scented blocks of wax that are melted in a warmer or burner. The warmer heats from below and melts the solid wax. As the wax melts, the scent is released.
Who are Cosy Owl?
Cosy owl are suppliers of craft kits and supplies, including candle making and wax melt materials.
What’s in the kit?

Included in the kit was:
Oud Fragrance Oil – 50ml
25g – Gold Satin Mica Powder
3g – Bekro Dye
350g – EcoSoya Melt Wax
1x Clam Shell, 1x Heart Clam shell, 1x Star Clam shell, 1x Deli Pot.
1 step by step guide
Our Oud Fragrance Oil has been specially formulated to release an intoxicating musky scent normally derived from wood resin of the tropical Agar tree. One of the most expensive and sought after fragrances in the world, used in many religious ceremonies in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, China, Japan and India. This intriguing fragrance opens with citrus, juniper berries, blackcurrent, plum and cherry with hints of pine leading into a heart of rose, jasmin and ylang supported by warming spices resting on an intense base of precious wood, oudh, patchouli, amber and musk.

How does it work?
before you start it’s worth gathering a double boiler or a saucepan you don’t mind getting waxy. A jug, a stirrer and something to protect your surfaces from the wax.
Then it’s simply a matter of melting your wax, (which took longer than I thought it would). Adding your colour, fragrance and mica powder. Go steady on the mica, I tipped too much in and it took ages to mix it in and changed the colour of my wax melts more than I hoped for.
Once all mixed, simply pour into the moulds.
I’d say it’s worth making it in two batches as that would speed up the melting time and I had lots of wax so I had to fill the lids of the molds as well.
Then you leave them to set for a few hours and they are ready to use.
Simple and really fun to make.
Value for money
Priced at £17.99 for the kit, it’s comparable to buying ready made wax melts. Plus you can completely customise your own design. I think the kit would make a great gift for someone who’d like to try a new gift.
Final thoughts wax melt making kit review
Having never made wax melts before, but love to use them at home. I was keen to try out this kit. It came well packed, and it’s vegan.
It was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon and my kitchen smells amazing. I can’t wait to gift my little hearts to the ones I love.
