Dannells Drum Lampshade Making Kit review (+giveaway)

I recently tried the Dannells 45cm Drum Lampshade Making Kit, and I’m really pleased with the result. It took me an afternoon to make, and the finished shade looks incredibly professional—my husband and mum were both impressed! See how I got on and win your own one at the bottom of this post.

What’s in the Kit?

The kit includes everything you need to create a 45cm drum lampshade, except for your chosen fabric or wallpaper. Inside the box, you’ll find:

  • Self-adhesive lampshade panel
  • Two metal rings (one plain, one with a fitting for a lamp or pendant)
  • Double-sided adhesive tape
  • Rolled-edge finishing tool
  • Step-by-step instructions

There’s also an optional video tutorial available, which I didn’t use but would be really useful for beginners.

Making the Lampshade

The instructions were very clear, and I found the process straightforward, but there were a couple of tricky parts. The most challenging step was getting the fabric smooth while sticking it onto the panel, as any slight misalignment can cause wrinkles or bubbles. Rolling the two metal rings to form the shade was also a bit fiddly—it took some care to keep them parallel with the edges of the panel.

I originally planned to use a wallpaper offcut, but the 45cm size was slightly bigger than I expected. Instead, I switched to fabric, which worked perfectly. One of the things I really love about this kit is that you can fully customize your lampshade with fabric or wallpaper to match your décor.

The Final Result

Once assembled, the lampshade looked incredibly professional. The edges were neat, and the structure was solid. I was really pleased with how well it turned out, and it now has a perfect spot in my home.

Price & Where to Buy
