Dealing with cuts when out and about

Getting outside and spending time in the fresh air has been both mine and the boys savior these last few months. We are lucky that we live in a beautiful part of rural countryside. Naturally, the boys get into all sorts of scrapes on these adventures. Here’s how I go about dealing with cuts when out and about.

Our favourite places to head are the local woods. There are three within a 5 – 10 minute car ride away from us and they are great places to let them run wild. We hardly see anyone else and they are fun to explore and have imaginary adventures in.

What’s in my bag?

Wherever we go and for ever long the adventure might be. I always have a drink and a snack, to avoid the inevitable moaning. With hunger averted there’s only one other thing that can spoil a trip to the woods. Falling over and scraping a knee / elbow chin etc.

So, thanks to Safe and sound Health, I’ve also got stashed in my bag Plasters, antiseptic wound spray and foaming hand sanitiser.

Dealing with cuts

Getting a cut knee can seem like an almighty disaster when your little. Dealing with it quickly makes all the difference.

Being away from the nearest loo and not being able to wash your hands. The foaming hand sanitiser is a handy, portable alternative that makes sure you hands are clean. Then cleaning up the wound with the antiseptic spray ensures they wont get it infected. Apparently according to my youngest it’s magic. The the final trick up my sleeve are the plasters.

Letting him pick his favourite design and popping is on, soon means the accident is forgotten and we can get on with having fun. The rocket one even made him run faster up hills. Bonus, for when they say they are tired!

Plus points from a parent

The plasters are designed with children in mind. They are fun designs, hypoallergenic, wash proof and flexible. Making them perfect for little cuts on knees and elbows.

The antiseptic spray ensures everything is clean. It’s gentle on the skin and doesn’t come with the usual ouch of other sprays. Suitable for both children and adults ( if like me you are also prone to falling over in the woods!)

The foaming hand sanitiser, smells nice. Kills 99.99% of bacteria and doesn’t leave your hands feeling sticky. Which some others do and me and the boys hate sticky hands!
