DIY Tiered Glass Cake Stand

Glass is a great material to use as it doesn’t detract from the food and goes with everything. Every great afternoon tea needs a cake stand. So combining the two, here is my tutorial for a D.I.Y tiered glass cake stand. It’s super simple but looks fantastic.

I love to put on a spread and afternoon tea has to be one of my favorites. Seeing all the treat laid out is one of the best bits. Showing your cakes and sandwiches off to the best means you need some great tableware.

To make my tiered glass cake stand you will need:

  • Two glass plates one larger than the other.
  • Two glass candle stick holders or sturdy glasses (I picked these up, along with the plates from the local charity shop for £4.00)
  • Bostik power repair – perfect for gluing glass, it provides a strong long lasting bond which is also water proof.

First clean all the glassware to ensure it is clean and free from grease. If it looks cloudy, allow it to soak in water and vinegar over night to remove the calcium build up.

Dry throughway.

Follow the instructions on the Bostik power repair carefully.

Glue the first glass candle holder to the base of the largest plate. Apply the glue to just one of the surfaces.

Ensure you have positioned it centrally and allow to dry.

Whilst that is drying, glue the other candle holder to the base of the smaller plate.

Again ensuring it is central.

Allow to dry.

Once both plates have been attached successfully to the candle stick holders.

Glue the smaller plates base of the candle holder to the larger plate.

Line them up so the plates are in line and central with each other.

Allow to fully dry for 24 hours. Before serving your favourite treats on it.
