How to get the best nights sleep

When I was a child it was often commented on how well I slept. I could sleep anywhere with almost anything going on and I’d be blissfully asleep. These days so many things can ruin my nights sleep, the light, the temperature and any noise. So I’ve been tackling my problems with a sleep masterclass and this is how to get the best nights sleep.

Bed choice

Achieving the best night’s sleep often comes down to the quality of your mattress. Investing in a king mattress can significantly enhance your sleep experience. Among the various brands available, Simba stands out for its exceptional comfort and support. The spaciousness of a king mattress provides ample room for movement, reducing disturbances that might interrupt your sleep.

Lighting

I like to block out as much light as possible. The slightest bit of light can disturb my sleep patterns. I have even gone to the lengths of taping over the little light on the phone. My best buys for getting a dark night sleep are to buy black out blinds to hang inside your curtains and to wear a sleep mask, if you don’t mind having something on your face.

Bed linen

It is the best feeling in the world, when you’ve had a relaxing bath or shower. Shaved your legs, moisturised and slipped in to fresh sheets. But these Bamboo Sheets sheets from Linenly will make that experience ten times better and keep on giving the silky smooth feeling night after night. I had always thought that the best sheets were high count Egyptian cotton or silk.

I had never even considered bamboo. But it has to be said these are the most delicious feeling sheets I have ever had on my bed.  They are made from organic bamboo and have a 400 thread count sateen weave for a smooth luxury feeling. They are naturally antibacterial and are hypo-allergenic.

Temperature

Keep your bedroom slightly cooler than the rest of your rooms in your house. Preferably no higher than 18c. Your body cools when it’s going into the sleep phase, this way your not in battle with the temperature in your room. Tossing and turning because you feel too hot. Avoid extra layers in bed and let your skin do it’s job of keeping you at the most comfortable temperature.

Noise

Sadly I haven’t found anything to avoid the noise coming from my kids at six in the morning. But I have found a solution to block out traffic noise and dogs barking which had, in the past woke me from my slumbers. Last year we had the windows replaced and on the bedrooms, we opted to have triple glazing. I am so pleased we spent the extra money on them, as when you pull the window closed. It’s like turn the volume on to mute.

Luckily I don’t have to share my bed with someone who snores. But I have many friends who regularly have to put up with the problem. This Good Night Anti-Snoring Ring looks like the perfect solution. It works naturally using acupressure points on the little finger to cure snoring. These pressure points work to free up your breathing passages and promote your natural bio rhythms to give a snore-free restful night’s sleep. Sounds amazing! Plus a lot less invasive than other solutions I’ve seen.

Breathe

My final top recommendation would be two products from Puressentiel, which will help get you in a calm and restful mood, ready for a good nights sleeps. Choose from The Rest & Relax Air Spray which is a 100% natural solution. Dye-free, preservative-free, synthetic perfume-free. Containing 12 essential oils. £16.99

Or the Relax Blend for Diffusion contains essential oils with calming, soothing and relaxing properties to naturally promote relaxation. £9.99

They both smell amazing and do help me unwind as part of my night time routine.
