Needle felting bunny kit review

If you’ve ever needed a craft to relax with. I can highly recommend needle felting. Stabbing something repeatedly thousands of times and making something out of it is very calming. Check out my new review of this super cute needle felting bunny kit from Crafty you Crafty me.

How does it work

First take out all the parts and read through the instructions. They are very clear and have lots of photos to help. Plus a template outlines for the different parts, so you can easily judge the size things should be.

Needle felting is a dry methods of felting wool. You use a needle that has barbs on it to tangle the wool fibres together as you push the needle in a out.

First you start by creating the body and head shape, then you make the rabbit grey. Next you add legs, feet and arms.

A tail is lightly added to keep the fluffy texture.

Finally features go on your bunny and a carrot for it to munch on.

I have needle felted before so I knew how the technique works. From start to finish it took me 2hrs 15 Minutes, with a cup of tea included.

It’s the perfect activity to spend an afternoon enjoying or work on it a little at a time.

How easy is it?

Needle felting is really easy and very additive once you get the hang of it. The needles are sharp, so I wouldn’t recommend it to children below high school.

Price

With the eco felting mat the kit costs £16.00

Without the mat it’s £11.50.

I would recommend getting the mat to protect the worksurface where you are working.

Final thoughts

I really love the bunny I created and this kit was an enjoyable way to spend a weekend afternoon. Everything I needed was included and the photos made it really clear how to make the rabbit.

Top tips for needle felting:

Make sure your use a mat to protect surfaces.

Be careful with your fingers! Those needles are sharp.

Keep turning as to felt, to create a good 3d shape.

Take your time over it.
