Mysteries in Time Review

Being at home so much with the children, means we have exhausted the book shelf. Filled in all the colouring books and made all the craft kits.

We were getting very close to running out of things to keep them happy and me sane!

However help was at hand! We were asked to review Mysteries in Time, a fun history for kids subscription box. It couldn’t have come at a better time!

What is Mysteries in Time?

Mysteries in time is a monthly history subscription box for children aged 7 -11. So my boys hit the perfect age range.

What’s included?

The box and it’s contents are based around two characters. Max and Katie, and their adventures through History.

Included in the Eygpitan box we were sent was:

  • An illustrated book of their adventure
  • A fun fact filled magazine with puzzles
  • Colouring in sheets
  • A crafts kit
  • Stickers
  • A world map
  • Hieroglyphics card
  • Plus a pen shaped like a sarcophagus.

It all comes packed up in a time travel themed box.

What themes does it cover?

The package starts with Ancient Egypt and then the next installments include: Elizabethan era, WW2, ancient Greece, Wild West, Aztecs, Ancient Rome, Victorians, Vikings, Ancient China, Space and Stuarts.

How much does it cost?

There are two price brackets:

Classic – which costs £6.45 per month plus postage. Based on twelve months prepay.

Bumper – which costs £11.45 per month plus postage. Based on twelve months prepay.

This is the package we had, which includes the craft activity and the historical gift.

They also offer world wide shipping

Our first impressions

My eldest who is eleven, was straight in the box and had already got everything out and opened before my youngest who’s 7 could get a look in.

I think it’s a great mix of activities, especially if, like me you have two differing aged children at home.

The eldest was happy to take himself off and read the book and the magazine.

The youngest keen to work with me on the crafts and do the colouring in.

Both of them liked the map and it’s now a great focus for us in the playroom.

Final thoughts

If we were to buy the bumper package for a year. It would work out to be £172.80 with shipping included. I was a little surprised by the price, but when you look at it. It works out to be rougly the price of a magazine a week.

I have bought my kids magazines as a treat at the end of a long week and often been surprised by how quickly they were exhausted.

The mysteries in time box in comparison gave much better vaulue for money. We can return to these resources again and again.

I also love the idea of gifting these boxes. You can buy them as a one off and with the possibility of not seeing loved ones for their birthdays. The chance to post them a personalised, unique gift like this, would be a great idea.

Don’t forget to Pin it for later!

Oh I would love to go back to when it was war time in England. I’ve always said I was born into some other lifetime and it was always here. I loved how everyone came together, friends, neighbours, how everyone looked after one another. The listening to rules like lights out and black window coverings went up. Not the sad loss of lives part but the coming together.
