Updating our utility room with Porcelain Superstore
The utility room is the workhorse in out house and was in need of an refresh. I spend what seems like an extraordinary amount of time in there. Sorting washing and ironing, so why not make it a more beautiful place to be in. Here’s how we went about updating our utility room with the help of Porcelain Superstore.

Starting point
The bare bones of our utility room weren’t too bad. We moved in just under two years ago and the décor hadn’t been updated since then. We liked the dark blue cupboards and they were almost a match for the freestanding kitchen we bought from The Cotswold Company. I also liked the oak counter top and the Karndean floor, so we didn’t want to change much in terms of layout

Updating the cupboards and painting
The cupboards were not quite the right blue, so we took a drawer to B and Q and colour matched the paint. Which turned out to be cadet song from the Valspar premium wood and metal range.
We refreshed the walls with Valspar premium walls and ceilings paint in pure brilliant white.
The painted the doors and skirting in French Urn Valspar premium wood and metal range
I found a pine mirror in the charity shop in town and painted that in French urn to tie it in. It also adds a bit more light into the room and means you’ve got somewhere to check yourself as your put your coat on before heading out the back door.
Adding a splash back
It was looking great, but we knew it needed something extra. That’s when the beautiful tiles from Porcelain Superstore came in. They have an amazing selection of tiles to choose from and you can order up to four free samples to help you choose the right tile for you.
We went for the Tapestry Blue Patterned Tile which is in a set of nine as a square (33cm x 33cm), making them easier to lay then lots of individual ones.

They have a sort of pre worn look to them, so the style went really well with out three hundred year old house.
My husband did all the work I’ll have to admit in laying them, which he said was very easy to do. But I was on hand to point out if we had any matching tiles next to each other.

So teamwork paid off in the end. The colour of them has really brought a freshness to the room and it now looks better than the kitchen!
We love these tiles so much, we are already in the process of a second project with them and I can’t wait to share it with you all soon!
