3 Simple beaded Jewellery Projects for Beginners

Embarking on the art of beading opens up a world of creativity and self-expression. For beginners, the prospect of creating their own stacking rings, earrings or necklace might seem daunting, but fear not! Here are three simple yet stylish beaded jewellery projects that are perfect for beginners just starting their creative journey.

Stretchy Stacking Rings

Materials:

Instructions:

  • Cut a suitable length of stretch cord for your desired ring size.
  • Choose your selection of different coloured beads. I used a mix of wheatberry seed beads which I grouped in similar colours for each ring.
  • String the beads onto the stretch cord
  • Ensure the beads are snug but not too tight to allow for stretch.
  • Tie a secure double knot, and trim any excess cord. If you want to be extra secure you can add a dot of glue to the knot.
  • Create multiple rings with different coloured beads to stack and mix up your look.

Crystal Bead Earrings

Simple beaded earrings formed into a drop shape, perfect for using blues and greens.

Materials:

Instructions:

  • Sort your bicone beads into matching two rows on your bead board, alternating the colours.
  • Thread the beading needle with a length of silk thread
  • String the beads onto your thread
  • Once the string is complete, gather both loose ends of the thread and loop through the end of the earring hook.
  • Knot to secure and you can add a dab of glue for extra security if desired.
  • Repeat the process for the second earring.

Secret Message Morse Code Necklace with Clasp

Materials:

Instructions:

  • Using a morse code generator pick a word you’d like to have as your secret message. I went with my name.
  • Using your bead design board copy the dots and dashes of the morse code with the rose quartz beads, using the mother of pearl in the gaps.
  • Once you have your message laid out, add additional mother of pearl beads to either side to your prefered necklace length.
  • Then cut a length of silk thread based on your desired necklace length.
  • String the beads onto the wire to spell out your message in Morse code.
  • After completing your necklace, attach your clasp.
  • I chose to use a barrel clasp, but there are many styles to use and you may find some easier than others.
  • The barrel clasp is attached by knotting the silk thread to each side of the clasp.

These three beginner-friendly beaded jewellery projects are a fantastic way to get started with jewellery making. Experiment with different colours and bead combinations to create pieces that reflect your unique style.
