M1 xTool review
I love my job as I get to try out all sorts of products for my crafty pursuits. This week I am lucky enough to get to review the M1 from xTool. Find out what I thought of this new hybrid laser cutter and blade cutting machine.

What is the M1?
The M1 from xTool is a laser cutter, engraving machine and a blade cutter. If you could imagine that a Glowforge and a Cricut has been spliced together. This is the latest model from xTool which also produces the D1 pro. The M1 has been designed for the home creator and hobbyist in mind.
What can it do?
The xTool can cut through all sorts or materials, from wood, Textiles, Paper & Cardboard, Plastics, to Leather, with the laser. But can also cleanly cut card, paper, fabric and vinyl with the blade.
It can also engrave on Wood, Textiles, Stone, Stamping rubber, Leather, Acrylic, anodized Aluminium, Mirror backs, Paper & cardboard
How easy is setup?
It was incredibly easy to set up being already assembled. I just had to fit the air filter pipe. I main issue was getting it up the stairs as it was heavy! It took two of us to carry it. Then you just plug in the usb and download the software, I was set up and cutting within an hour!
How much does it cost?
The xTool M1 which I was sent to review is currently on sale for £899.00. Which I know is expensive, especially if you’re comparing it to the price of a Cricut or silhouette. But it is great big step up in terms of the potential for crafts. You have the capability for working with so many more materials and producing more effects than simply cutting.
Value for money?
Over the last week I used the xTool M1 continuously. It has been great fun testing out all the different materials is can cut and engrave. I have so many design ideas and SVG’s that the possibility of creating them is now in my grasp with this great machine. I’ve also wasted hardly any materials, which is brilliant compared to my Cricut, so I’m saving on wastage. For a keen crafter or perhaps someone who wants a window into the laser cutting world. I think this machine is great value for money.
Final thoughts
If like me, you drool over laser cutting videos on tik tok and the gram. Considerably less money than a Glowforege, more capabilities that a cricut. You’ll want this machine in your life.
Like me, once you have experienced the creative joy of laser cutting and engraving you’ll never want to give it up.
