WUKA period pants review

As a teacher I have often seen the look of horror come across a girls face in class, when she has been caught unexpectedly out by her period. Even now it has happened to me near the end of my period. When you think it’s all over, but no it has other ideas. Which is why I think period wear is such a good idea. So I was pleased when I was invited to review WUKA period pants.

What are period pants?

Period pants can be a complete replacement to pads or tampons. They are just like regular underwear but have built in protection and will keep you feeling dry and comfortable for up to eight hours. Then you simply pop them in the wash, ready to wear again. They come in three absorbances and two different styles. They will protect you for up to eight hours and all through the night during your period.

How do they work?

The pants are made up of multi layers. Including a wicking layer to keep you dry, a layer to lock in the blood, antibacterial layer and a waterproof layer to protect your clothes.

First impressions

They look just like regular pants. They don’t feel heavy or bulky and are much more comfortable than wearing a pad. I didn’t feel confident enough to wear them all day at work during my heavy days. So I combined them with plastic free tampons, I liked the extra reassurance that they gave me from leaks.

I did use them without anything else at night and I had a much better nights sleep than I did with a pad. It felt just like wearing knickers. In the morning I just rinsed them and popped them in the wash I was putting on.

Final thoughts

I love the fact they are a sustainable plastic free alternative to the current period products on the market. If I had daughters I would definitely be buying them a set for when the started their periods. I will continue to use mine as a back up in the day and my main protection at night.
