8 achievable self care tips

What is self care and how can I make a self care plan and some of the questions I will answer. Whether you are looking for tips for students, new mums or just because you are are living a busy lifestyle. Take some time for yourself and work on these 8 achievable self care tips.

The importance of self care not only for your phyiscal health but for your menatl health as well has become highly regarded in recent years. Creat a routine and a self care plan with these simple ideas.

Self-care is not selfish, self-care is an important ritual you need to start practicing every day to ensure you are fit, healthy and mentally strengthened to deal with everything life throws at you.

This means to can feel happier, be a supportive partner and dependable parent.

Start a mindful ritual

I have a set of wellbeing ritual balms from Scentered. They are 100% natural aromatherapy balms. In my set it has one for each challenge I might face during the day.

If I know I’ve got a busy day ahead I reach for focus. Kids driving me insane with all their talk of Minecraft, opting for Happy or Escape.

Long day and I want to unwind, then it’s De-Stress I’m reaching for.

Know I need a good nights rest, then by my bed is Sleep Well.

How do they work? They are really simple to use – I simply rub on my temples and wrists, breath deeply and the scents reset my mood.

I now have them stashed in my office, by my bed and in my handbag ready for when I need the chance to stop and be more mindful.

The Signature Ritual collection I use costs £69.00 but will last ages as it’s a solid stick. Well worth the money to help you take care of your mind.

Get outdoors for mental and physical health

Studies have proven that we need to expose yourselves to daylight every day. Get outdoors even if the weather is bad for just 15 minutes to feel the benifits.

You don’t have to go for a walk even, just be outside. Breath the air, listen to the sounds and if you feel like it, slip off your shoes and reconnect with the earth.

You’ll be amazed how this can make you feel in just a few short minutes.

Practice a yoga routine

I really should do more of it. Not only for my wobbly belly and digestive health but for the opportunity to focus on my breathing. To think about how my body is feeling and take a moment to do something purely for my benefit.

We often put our needs of our bodies and mental health further down the list than they should be. Ten to fifteen minutes a day is not a big ask. Many smart speakers have yoga routines that you can listen to which guide you through a yoga flow. Whether that is a morning rotuine, an energising one for that afternoon slump or a claming bedtime flow.

The beauty of these is you simply listen, rather than looking at you phone to follow an app.

Even better if you can attend a class with others and connect as you practice yoga.

Eat well

Stay hydrated

Set yourself a goal to drink at least one extra glass of water a day, you’ll find it soon becomes a habit and your stomach, skin and mind will thank you for it.

If you can’t ditch the tea, make a switch to a green tea, which is high in antioxidants.

Art therapy

You might think that colouring being part of my achievable self care tips is childish. But it’s not just for children. Colouring has helped me a lot to unwind in the evenings. Getting lost in the patterns and colours is a great way to relax. There are no right or wrong ways to do it.

You can even grab some free printable colouring pages. So you can start tonight.

Other crafty hobbies I have found relaxing are cross stitch and embroidery. Which can be easily started will the minimum of materials or skills needed.

Reading

There is nothing better than getting lost in a good book. I’ve have to remind myself of how wonderful it makes me feel when I indulge my passion for reading on holiday.

Making sure that I take time to pick up my book and read for at least 10 minutes a day has had real benefits.

Bath time

In our busy lives we come to using the shower as the go to way to get clean. In and out in less than five minutes.

So bath time is not about getting clean, but having a decadent evening to yourself. Pour in half a bottle of bubbles.

Bring your book. Let yourself truly soak.

Invest in a lock for your door too, if you really want to preserve your peace and get the benefit of these achievable self care tips.
