HelloFresh review

What are your thoughts on subscription boxes. They seem to be a ever growing concept. One that has often looked appealing to me. Especially when I was working full time are recipe boxes that arrive at your door. Read on to find out more about HelloFresh and their recipes in my review.

What is HelloFresh

HelloFresh is a recipe box service. Delivering you the fresh ingredients and recipe cards to make delicious home cooked meals.

How it works

You choose your weekly menu, which can be adapted to suit dietary preferences and needs. Then you choose your delivery time and get ready to cook a range of fantastic meals at home. The ingredients are pre-portioned for ease. Plus it’s a flexible subscription service, meaning you can cancel, change your slots and skip a week easily, if you need to.

You can even choose between family, classic and rapid boxes to help with recipe selections.

Meals can be as low as £1.72 dependant on the number of people you are ordering for and how many nights you want a new recipe to cook.

Trying it out

I was so tempted by the recipes I just had to cook one up.

I cooked the honey walnut halloumi recipe as it’s vegetarian and gluten free. The recipe was easy to follow and it was a great change to my usual mid week meals. Full of flavour and different textures. It would be perfect if I was just cooking for hubby and me. I don’t think the kids would have liked the paprika butternut squash. Yet, they can devore a whole packet of halloumi given the chance!

The benefits of HelloFresh

I can see a number of benefits to using HelloFresh.

Often you can feel stuck in a food rut and lacking inspiration for meals. Scrolling through all the recipe choices can be so inspiring.

Not having the time to hunt around three different supermarkets for all the ingredients a recipe calls for. HelloFresh deliver them all in the right amounts, so there is no food waste.

Menu planning can take a lot of time and organisation. Having to come up with a list of dishes, then figure out what you already have and what extra bits you need. This can be time consuming and sometimes this can just be too much. Avoid the frozen food aisle or the temptation to order a takeaway. HelloFresh means you keep eating healthy, fresh foods if you don’t have the time to meal plan.
