Can’t find one you like in the shops? Never fear here’s how to make curly girl method hair accessories.

To make a hair scrunchie perfect for pineappling and easy hairstyles that don’t damage your hair. You will need:

This beautiful sari scraps fabric bundle came from Secret Projects. They are a fantastic organisation that aim to empower women in India, manufacture their goods responsibly and have a little impact on the environment as possible.

First you will need a length of fabric about 60cm long 8cm wide and a piece of flat elastic 20cm long. (I joined two pieces of my sari fabric together first to get the length I needed)

Fold the fabric along the length and sew with rights sides together,  with a 1 cm seam allowance all the way down.

Turn inside out using a paintbrush or knitting needle to help.

Pin the elastic to one end so you don’t loose it and thread through the fabric tube. So it looks like this.

Join the two ends of the elastic with some machine stitching

Tuck inside the fabric tube and fold one end over the other to completely seal. Pin in place and over stitch with hand sewing the opening.

To make the fabric head band

Cut a length of fabric 80 cm long and 30cm wide. (Again join fabrics together to get the length you need)

Fold in half with right sides together and stitch a pointed end on both ends and along the open edge leaving a 1cm gap to turn through.

Clip the seams.

Turn the right way round and press flat.

Top stitch around the head band to close the gap and add a finishing touch.

Use to keep your hair out of your eyes on days when the curls have a life of their own!
