Getting Started

Before we dive into the details, let’s gather our materials. You’ll need:

  1. Cross Stitch Fabric: Choose a fabric with a suitable thread count for cross stitching. I opted for a neutral tone 14 count aida to let the vibrant ribbons pop.
  2. Embroidery Floss: I perfer to use DMC
  3. Embroidery Hoop: This will keep your fabric taut and make stitching more comfortable.
  4. Embroidery Needle: Choose a size 24 if stitching on 14 count.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Prepare Your Fabric: Start by securing your fabric in the embroidery hoop. Make sure it’s tight, like the skin of a drum, for smooth stitching.
  2. Thread Your Needle: Separate your embroidery floss into individual strands. Use one stand folded to start with a loop to secure.
  3. Find the centre: look at the black arrows which indicate the centre of the pattern.
  4. Add the next colour: work all one colour before switching to the next.
  5. Finishing Touches: Once you’ve completed the wreath, step back and admire your handiwork. Consider adding a date or personalising it with initials.
