Can You Make Your Own Diamond Art Picture?

Diamond art, also known as diamond painting, is a fun and relaxing craft that has gained popularity in recent years. It involves placing tiny resin “diamonds” onto a coded canvas to create a vibrant, shimmering piece of art. But have you ever wondered if you could create your own diamond art picture rather than buying a kit? The answer is a resounding yes! Here’s how.

Step 1: Choose Your Design

The first step in creating your own diamond art picture is choosing a design. This could be anything from a photograph of a loved one, a beautiful landscape, or even a pattern you’ve drawn yourself. The possibilities are endless! Or use one of my designs – head to the bottom of the post for a free Easter design.

Step 2: Convert Your Design

Once you’ve chosen your design, the next step is to convert it into a diamond painting pattern. There are several online tools available that can help you do this. These tools will convert your image into a pattern and assign a code to each colour.

Step 3: Gather Your Materials

Now that you have your pattern, it’s time to gather your materials. You’ll need:

• double sided sticky sheets,
• a set of diamond drills in the colours required for your design,
• a diamond applicator tool,
• a tray,
• wax.
• Plus the print out of your design. Ensuring the template is the same size as your diamond drills.

My charts are sized to fit the 2.8mm drills. These materials can be purchased individually or in a kit from craft stores or online.

Step 4: Start Crafting

With your materials at hand, you’re ready to start crafting. Cover the design with the double sided sheet and peel back to reveal the area you want to work on.

Apply a bit of wax to the tip of your applicator tool, pick up a diamond drill, and place it on the corresponding code on the canvas. Repeat this process until your design is complete.

Creating your own diamond art picture is not only possible, but it’s also a lot of fun. It allows you to express your creativity and make a piece of art that is truly unique. Plus, it’s a great way to unwind and relax.

You can trim the design down to make a motif for cards, or fill in the background and frame it.
