DIY Heart Shaped Felt Frame for Cross Stitch
Are you looking for innovative ways to showcase your finished cross stitch pieces? Look no further! Today, I’m going to guide you through creating a diy heart-shaped felt frame for your cross stitch. This unique frame will not only enhance your artwork but also add a personal touch to your décor.

Materials Needed
- Felt sheets (color of your choice)
- Cross stitch artwork
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ribbon
- Laser cutter (optional)
- SVG cut file or PDF paper templates
Step 1: Get the Pattern
To start, you’ll need to get the pattern for the heart-shaped frame. I’ve created an easy-to-follow template that you can download at the bottom of this post. To access this exclusive content, simply sign up on the website. Once you’re signed up, you’ll have access to the free SVG cut file and the free PDF printable pattern template.
Step 2: Cut the Felt Frame
There are two ways to cut the felt frame: using a laser cutter or cutting by hand.
Using a Laser Cutter
If you have a laser cutter, upload the SVG cut file to your machine. Place your felt sheet on the cutting bed, ensuring it’s flat and secure. Then, simply run the laser cutter following the uploaded pattern.
Cutting by Hand
If you don’t have a laser cutter, don’t worry! You can still create this frame by hand. Print out the PDF paper templates. Place the printed template on your felt sheet and carefully cut along the lines.
Step 3: Assemble the Frame
Once you have your heart-shaped felt pieces, it’s time to assemble the frame. Apply glue along the edges of your cross stitch artwork ( I used my dala horse pattern) and carefully place it onto one of the felt hearts. Then, apply glue on the edges of the second felt heart and place it on top of the first, sandwiching the cross stitch artwork in between.
Add a hanging loop of ribbon in between the two layers if you wish to use it as an ornament.
Step 4: Display Your Artwork
Now that your frame is assembled, it’s time to display your artwork! With the ribbon loop it makes it easy to hang anywhere.
