Materials Needed:

  1. Red, green, and yellow card stock
  2. Scissors
  3. Green crepe paper
  4. Glue or adhesive tape
  5. Cardboard wreath base
  6. Pencil
  7. Ribbon for hanging
  8. Poinsettia and Holly templates
  9. bone folder
  10. Cork mat or similar for scoring the cardstock

Step 1: Prepare Your Materials

Gather all the materials listed above to ensure a smooth crafting experience. Choose vibrant reds and greens to capture the essence of the season.

Step 2: Create Poinsettia Flowers

a. Draw and cut out several poinsettia flower shapes from the red card stock. (or use your cricut or laser cutter to cut them) You can find PDF and SVG templates at the bottom of this post. For my wreath I made five flowers, each needs one large, medium and small flower shape.
b. Use a bone folder to create the veins in the flower shapes, bend each peal inwards to give a more three diemsional look.

c. Layer the flower shapes, gluing them together at the centre. Add three yellow circles cut from cardstock.

Step 3: Craft Holly Leaves

a. Draw and cut out holly leaf shapes from the green card stock. The template has a variety of sizes to add dimension to your wreath.
b. Add veins to the leaves by gently scoring them with a bone folder.

Step 4: Cover the wreath

Use one inch wide strips of green crepe paper to cover the cardboard wreath base. Wrap them around and secure with glue at the back.

Step 5: Attach Flowers and Leaves to the Base

a. Arrange the holly leaves on the cardboard wreath base, securing them with glue or adhesive tape.

b. Then add the flowers. Be creative with the placement to achieve a balanced look.

Step 6: Secure a Hanging Ribbon

Attach a ribbon to the back of your wreath, ensuring it's securely fastened for hanging. Choose a ribbon that complements the colours of your wreath.

Step 7: Display and Enjoy

Find the perfect spot to showcase my handmade creation. Whether on my front door, above the fireplace, or as a centrepiece on your dining table, my paper poinsettia and holly wreath is sure to spread holiday cheer.

Crafting a paper poinsettia and holly wreath is a delightful way to embrace the festive spirit and showcase your artistic flair. Enjoy the process, involve the whole family if you wish, and revel in the joy of creating a unique decoration that will be cherished for years to come. Happy crafting and happy holidays!
